I’m starting a new ritual for New Year’s Eve.
It occurred to me this morning, after hearing the very low statistic of people that keep resolutions, that I wanted to do something different this year.
More heart felt.
I wanted to honor me,and the past year, and celebrate me,and the coming year.
So, this is what I came up with.
We celebrate the New Year like a birthday? Candles and a cupcake but minus the party.
We find a quiet place, sometime on December 31st, and sit with ourselves in reflection of 2019.
We write two letters to ourselves?
One letter is a reflection of the past year.
The lessons learned.
The sadness and joy.
Most of all, what the journey of the past year has been like.
The wonderful hard glorious path that has brought you to 2020.
The second letter is your wish for 2020.
Not resolutions. Don’t sell yourself short. Resolutions are too easy.
What is your heart telling you that you really want?
And Why? Get really clear on the why.
I tell you a few whys first?
You are deserving.
You are worthy.
You are more than enough.
You are ready for the universe to see your uniqueness.
You are tired of soldering along alone.
You have worked so hard to get to where you are, and 2020 is going the year of expansive growth.
You are ready to put yourself first so your future self will thank you.
You have carried the burden, the shame and the guilt of the past far too long. It’s time to move on. It is time.
There are 6 simple rules to follow?
1.After writing the 2019 letter you must seal it. Lick it closed. Tape it up. Say goodbye and thank it for what it has taught you.
2.The last few lines of your 2020 letter must be~~~
Thank you. I am grateful for this life. I am a beautiful soul that deserves a beautiful life. I am walking into 2020 with an open heart and an open mind where I believe all things are possible.
3. Say, #2,the last lines of your letter, out loud. You are putting it out into the Universe.
4. Place the 2020 letter in an envelope but don’t seal it. Come back to it when you need a little fuel for the soul. Reminders for when things get tough. And you know they will. It’s part of life and part of growth.
5. Now close your eyes.
Inhale, surrendering to the possibility of the future.
Exhale the past, goodbye 2019.
Blow out the candle.
6.Now open the door and go have THE best year of your life!
