Falling

Aug 20, 2019

If you read last weeks post, skip to the bottom of the page for the 2nd poem. The beginning of this post is the same as last weeks.

By the way, I truly appreciate you spending some of your time with me.

Nope, that’s not a typo. I was 18 years old then. At the time, I was taking night classes to get my high school diploma. I wasn’t a bad kid, but in the middle of a life filled with some bad circumstances.

My friends say they remember seeing a for sale sign in the front yard of our house, and the next thing they knew, I was gone. What I remember, hmmm, I wish it was that quick and easy.

I will elaborate at a later date but the matter of facts are:

My parents filed for divorce. My Dad moved to Detroit, MI. My Mom moved to Indianapolis, IN. My sisters were away at college. I wanted to finish out my Senior year, obviously at my current high school as we had lived there 10yrs. There, was a suburb of Buffalo, NY.  So, I tried living with a friend...

There, was a suburb of Buffalo, NY.  So, I tried living with a friend to finish out my senior year but there were 2 major problems.

1. She had 2 crazy mean Siamese Cats...ok a problem, but not enough to not live there, just creep me out.

2. Her mother was an alcoholic. That was a...

REconnect to YOU through Friendship

Apr 22, 2019

Hi, there. Thanks for joining me at FuelfortheSoul.net today. I'm happy to connect with you and talk about ways in which to find that missing piece of yourself once you become a mom. Last week I talked about finding your joy. Looking back at when you were a child and things that made you feel joyful like riding a bike, hopscotch, getting ice cream, and taking time to go do those things as a woman now without your children and trying to find that joy again inside of you. That reconnects to something that you carry on after the fact and bring back that joy.

Second today, I would like to talk about getting together with your friends. Now, I do have to say without children and also doing it outside of your house or anybody else's house. And there's one little caveat, you cannot talk about your kids until the end of dinner when everyone decides ... It doesn't have to be a big group, but maybe three others and you. Remember you're trying to connect to the woman you are. The idea is...

REconnecting to your Joy as a child

Apr 15, 2019

Thanks you for joining me at FuelfortheSoul.net, I'm Amy Davidson. I'm a Women's Empowerment Coach and a Life Purpose coach, and I've done some NLP training as well. So, I have been talking to moms recently who have expressed something they feel a little guilty about.  They mentioned to me that they feel as if they've lost a piece of themselves after becoming mothers.  That's a very natural feeling. A lot of women don't feel comfortable talking about it, because they feel guilt behind it, and shame that they shouldn't feel that they miss part of themselves. It really is natural, and I believe if you openly talk to some of your other mom friends about it, you will see that the majority of you do feel that you're missing a piece of yourself.

So, I developed a guide of eight ways to reconnect, reclaim, and reinvest in you, as a woman, not as a mother.  Life is so busy that we don't really take time for ourselves. Its so important we...

April Challenge

Apr 01, 2019

Thank you for connecting with me at Fuel for the Soul.

I'm here to talk about challenges and the month of April.

I really need to challenge myself to get outside a little bit more and get some more activity away from my computer. So, I was hoping that maybe we could start an April Challenge together and you can do something that is new to you or something that you've just gotten out of the habit of doing. For me, I'm going to do three days a week, at least 20 minutes of walking. If the weather is bad, I'm going to go to the gym or go out anyway.

I really need that to clear my mind and I've been feeling a little bit cooped up lately, so I want to present that challenge to you. I also thought, maybe my challenge was to read more. I need, I have tons of books, I keep ordering books to read and I don't sit down to read them. Maybe that will be my May challenge. Go to bed maybe ten minutes early or half an hour early and start on one of my books that I have. But, I know, like a lot of...

Thriving or Just Surviving?

Mar 25, 2019

There are two different mindsets we tend to go throughout our lives at several different times. Thriving is really where you flourish, you grow, you blossom, you feel good about things, you're challenging yourself. Surviving is pretty much just muddling through day after day, existing and enduring what's going on.

I can definitely say I've been in both, and most people have, and not only once or twice, I mean, it's just a cycle that I believe we go through in our life. Day to day it's just so important to start having a strong mindset, because things can change so drastically within a day. The first thing that we really need to do when we want to change our mindset, or work on getting to a thriving mindset from surviving, is really take responsibility where you are and where you're headed. This tells the mind that you're going to take action in some direction, so you really have to commit to it,  and it  takes practice.

I believe through my practice I have gained some tips...

Time to Shine

Mar 18, 2019

We are all deserving to shine our light into the world. No one is better or more worthy than the other. The biggest gift you can give yourself is to share yourself. There's something inside of you that others need to hear, feel and see. Believe in your power to touch and make a difference to someone. You may be the only person that does.

A beautiful quote by Marianne Williamson.“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let...

Grit=Passion+Perserverance

Mar 11, 2019

Thanks for visiting my blog. I wanted to write a little bit about a book that I just finished reading called, Grit the Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth. What's so interesting about this is she as a child was always told that she's not a genius and her father was actually a genius. Her father put her down quite a bit. However, she proved differently In her academic life and you'll see that she really is quite a genius.

She completed her BA in Neurobiology at Harvard. Her Masters of Science and Neuroscience at Oxford and her PhD in Psychology at University of Penn.

Angela decided to find out what...
